Flavio Casoy is proud to join CIR Patient Education Initiative’s Board! He currently works for New York State’s Office of Mental Health as the Medical Director for Admissions at Rockland Psychiatric Center. He is also a Clinical Lecturer in Psychiatry at Columbia University, an Attending Psychiatrist at Lincoln Hospital, and he has a small private practice in the Flatiron District of Manhattan. He completed college and medical school at Brown University, his general adult psychiatry residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and a fellowship in public psychiatry at Columbia University. He has always been deeply committed to building the labor movement because he believes labor is the best vehicle we have to build a society where everyone in America has a fair chance and building a fulfilling and satisfying life. His first involvement with CIR was during his first year of medical school when he helped plan a panel for his medical school class to learn about physician unions. Since then, he has held a variety of CIR positions in his local hospital and on the board. Transitioning to CIR PEI will allow him to continue contributing to an organization he loves whose mission matches his core values and identity. He looks forward to the upcoming challenges and opportunities!
